About
Rough Draft Records began in early 2010 (2010-02-28, to be precise) as an idea with a couple friends, Iris and JD, to have an indie record label. RDR would be a kind of umbrella for releases put out by bands that we were in. Originally I envisioned that it would be run collaboratively and democratically. The hope was that whenever one of us was putting out a record, we’d use the Rough Draft name, put an entry on the blog, and slowly but surely build up a body of related work. In practice, it was just me “running” things. Eventually all of our bands broke up. Everyone went on to new projects, working with “real” labels. RDR, which had always been mostly me, morphed into a repository for my own solo projects and occasional collaborations.
I’m still releasing music under the Rough Draft label, but it’s really not a label in the proper sense.
