About

Music composed for “The Clock Tells the Hour,” an event organized by Éireann Lorsung to “mark keep tell pass the tolling of a year of lockdowns coronavirus shift change loss more than 2.5 million deaths worldwide and also resilience joy solidarity resistance new timekeeping new worlds.” We performed live via Zoom. The first track was featured at the start of the performance, and all other tracks were programmed between each performer’s segment stitching it all together.

The title of the first track quotes the final sentence of section 36 of Edmund Husserl’s “The Phenomenology of Internal Time-Consciousness.”

Interview excerpts on track 1 are taken from a cassette tape recording of my cousin, Hayes Henderson, in conversation with our grandfather, Bernard Hannigan, in 1989, likely recorded in Houlton, Maine.
