Text

This is another attempt at recording nothing–this time the nothing of walking up a quiet street I’ve walked many many times. I live right by here, on a very busy street onto which this road terminates. I love walking up Dufferin as it’s quiet, calm, and has very few cars passing through.

I held my phone in my hand as I walked, so the microphones are swinging to and fro while also moving forward in space. This makes for some very lively moments in the recording, such as when a car passed by. Rather than a continuous crescendo from the car getting closer, the sound of its engine swelled up and down in volume, getting a little louder each time it swelled up, until full volume was reached after which the car passed and the sound faded away again.

As always, nothing turns out not to be nothing.

Looking down the street I just walked up. Far off in the distance you can see the steeple of Patrick's Cathedral rising. Behind me would be the Dublin Mosque.
